Ashworth Honey aims to be as sustainable as possible in how we operate.
We have always kept bees in a chemical free way and our honey goes from hive to jar with only minimal filtering, to ensure you get all the goodness when you buy our products. To ensure our product is as pure as possible, we use Ethiopian sterilised organic foundation wax (yes we know it has air miles, but until there is a certified UK producer, this is our only option).
Our bees are left with sufficient honey as stores to feed them through the Winter – we only feed with sugar based feeds if necessary for their survival in a harsh or prolonged Winter. Most commercial operations will remove all honey and only feed sugar.
Our jars are glass and lids tin, both fully recyclable and in 2022 we started changing our labels to a compostable material. Our beeswax products are packaged in cardboard – even our polishes and Toes and Nose Balm for pets. If you would like your order posting, we reuse packaging we have received, and hope it gets reused or recycled when you receive it too.
We work with companies that have the same ethos as us, promoting sustainable practices and habitat diversification.
We continually review our business and will change our operation where possible to provide as natural product as possible for a reasonable price.
